Every student wanting to gain admission in any college of the University of Delhi must fill a centralized form released by DU itself. This form is then shown in every individual college when the student goes to seek admission after the Cut-Offs are declared. Delhi University traditionally functioned only on an offline centralized application system only where candidates would have to go to any of the Colleges and buy the offline form to apply to the university. In its recent trend towards modernization, DU has switched majority of its central application to the Internet while keeping the offline system in place. Here’s our take on the Online v/s Offline Application System followed by DU!
What is the Online Application System?
The Online Application System started a few years ago. A student can now apply to DU by filling the central form online on the university website. Certain colleges like JMC and St. Stephen’s have moved their entire application system online.
How it actually works
Usually, towards the end of May, Delhi University releases the centralized application forms for all students. The form is available on the official website of Delhi University (click here). A student must fill out all his/her details and finish the application procedure with online payment of the application fee. A printout of this online application is required during the admission process. ECA and Sports Quota forms have to be taken physically from each college.
For Colleges like Jesus & Mary College and St. Stephen’s, they only have an online application. A student must fill out all his/her details and finish the application procedure with online payment of the application fee. This form is inclusive of the ECA and Sports Quota application as well.

What is the Offline Application System?
The application form is the same both for online and offline applications. The offline forms are available at the assigned locations in DU’s South and Off Campus colleges. In 2015, there were 8 offline centers made in institutes like Gargi College, Maharaja Agrasen College, Dyal Singh College, ARSD, Rajdhani College, Shyam Lal College, PGDAV and Shri Guru Gobind Singh College.
How it actually works
The students are required to the collect the forms physically from the designated venues. The offline application is an Optical Marked Recognition (OMR) form, which needs to be filled and submitted at the same place as where it is collected.
