The admission procedure for first year admission in degree colleges has come to an end and most colleges have started opening for the FYs. The colleges of Mumbai & Navi Mumbai have started welcoming their first year students, who are getting a warm welcome by their seniors.
The Bachelor in Mass Media (BMM) department, which is known for the variety of subjects it offers and the scope it provides in future, too welcomed the first year students with grace on 1st July 2015. The second year students gave the freshers an orientation, which is an introductory stage to their life in BMM and in SIES as a whole.
The orientation, which took place in SIESCOMS Auditorium, started with ‘Lighting of the Lamp’ ceremony by all the faculty members, including the HOD, Prof. Dr. Priyadarshini Poddar, senior faculty member, Prof. Mithun Pillai & the youngest Professor of SIES and of the
Mumbai University, Prof. Abhishek D.
The students were introduced to faculty members, the different social & cultural groups in college and also to the various fests that are celebrated in the college by the different departments. They were also enlightened about Siesons, which is the college’s cultural fest and Frames Film Festival, which is one of India’s biggest undergraduate film festival, the fest celebrated by the BMM dept. The students were also shown the previous years’ winning entries of Frames, along with the trailer video and theme video which were made by the students of the BMM dept. of SIES.
The orientation ended by showing a special anti-ragging video which made it clear that ragging had no place in SIES. The regular classes for the first year students began from 2nd July onwards.
