The criteria for the Chancellor’s Recognition Scholarships are high school students with consistent first class grades and a combined SAT (I) math and critical reading test score of 1,250 at least. Only those students whose applications reach  IUPUI no later than February 1, 2012 will qualify. Four students from Mahar-ashtra  have already been offered the scholarships for the Fall 201 1 intake.

The IUPUI Honors College, which has exclusive computer labs and focuses on  cutting-edge research, offers an honours notation to undergraduate students upon graduation. Through the Honors Professional Admission Programme, accomplished high school seniors may be considered for provisional admission to select graduate and professional courses at IUPUI.  Sara Allaei, director of Intern-ational Enrollment and Services says, “We have noticed a tremendous interest among well-qualified Indian students in the science and engineering programmes offered at IUPUI.” For the incoming Fall 2011 class, IUPUI is offering over $100,000 annually in scholarships to 17 undergraduate students from India, and hopes to double the offer for Fall 2012. These scholarships are renewable annually, if students maintain their GPA (among other requirements).  The estimated value of financial aid offered to new graduate students from India annually exceeds $500,000.

Energy engineering: IUPUI offers a bachelors of science in energy engineering. This Purdue University degree prepares students for careers in this rapidly-expanding industry.  Motorsports engineering:  IUPUI offers a bachelor’s degree in motorsports engineering, which is also a Purdue University engineering degree. The motorsports industry has been growing at a rapid pace. Indianapolis, famous for open-wheel racing, also offers sprint car, midgets, hot rod, and many other forms of racing. Other programmes of the school with good career prospects are in biomedical engineering, electrical and computer engineering, and mechanical engineering.

Informatics: The Indiana University School of Informatics offers research opportunities through a collaboration with the Indiana University School of Medicine. Students get unique opportunities to engage in cutting-edge, hands-on research.  They  learn about data modelling, data indexing and query optimisation with a bioinformatics perspective. In February 2010, the School of Informatics served as a co-founding partner with the National Institute of  Techn-ology in Calicut, India to sponsor an International Symposium on Biocomputing.

Philanthropic studies: IUPUI’s Centre on Philanthropy offers a Bachelor’s degree in philanthropic studies. The Center is dedicated to understanding philanthropy and improving its practice.
