Skill Development Training for Students at JIMS

The Career Services and Placement (CSP) department at Jaipuria Institute of Management Studies, Ghaziabad has been structured to impart skill development training which will help in employability of the students. 

The CSP department is established with a prime objective of creating opportunities for promising PGDM students, in reputed organizations. To accomplish this objective, CSP department identifies corporate in various sectors and initiates the process of building a mutually rewarding relationship with them. CSP department maintains a central database of each student in the college and manifests their technical and employable skills. 

Since competition for employment is increasing every day, CSP Department tries to overcome this challenge by keeping in touch with various leading companies, including multinationals, to visit the campus for student selection and hiring.  In the current batch 2014; 65% of students have already been placed. The average salary of the students is 3 lacs per annum. Eminent recruiters are from across the industry including; Banking and Financial Services, FMCG, Manufacturing, Retail, Consulting, IT and Telecom to name a few.

Apart from the placement effort, CSP is actively involved in Training students for aptitude tests and job interviews. Sessions are conducted to train students to perform well in campus events. Personality development programs and Executive Leadership Programs are conducted using the Services of experts from within and outside the college.

 

Key activities performed by the CSP department for placement of PGDM students

 

  • Inviting eminent personalities from the industry for guest lectures, so as to keep students updated about ever changing industry needs. Various guest lecturers were organised over the last quarter with senior leaders visiting from HDFC bank, Pepsico, Investors Clinic, Cafe Coffee Day,!
  • Organising Industrial visits and other Industry-Institute interaction activities. Prominent industrial visits done so far include; Maruti Suzuki, Parle Limited, National Stock Exchange, Bisleri, Mother Dairy and Eveready.
  • Arranging for internship trainings and projects. Students have been doing their 2-month summer internship program across reputed organisations. Most of them received an internship stipend ranging from Rs. 3000 to 10,000/- per month whereas few even bagged PPOs (Pre placement offers). ITC, Mark & Spencer, Reliance, Jubliant, SBI, BHEL, TATA motors to name a few.
  • Arranging Orientation Program for Students, Career Guidance Programmes, Placement Seminars, Workshops and Events. Various events like Debate Competition, Business Presentations, Inter College Quiz, Outdoor Team Building workshops, Ad-mad shows and Personality Enhancement sessions have been undertaken over the last few months.
  • Arranging mock sessions for enhancing the communication skills, group discussion techniques, and written test.

 

Placement Report

2013-14 saw a substantial increase in the hiring from the Banking and Financial Services sector. 40% students were placed in the BFSI space. Prominent recruiters included ICICI Bank and HDFC Bank. IT and Telecom Services followed next with almost 22% placements. The next highest recruitment was in the FMCG and Manufacturing sector (16%).  

Prominent hiring roles included Sales and Marketing with almost 72% placements in this specialization.This was followed by Finance with 19% placements and HR with 9%.
