Theatre Workshop at Jaipuria Institute of Management, Indore

A Theatre workshop was organized by the Communication Club of Jaipuria Institute of Management, Indore for the students of PGDM Batch 2013-15. It was a ten day rigorous workshop from March 12-22, 2014, which focussed on the self-development of the participants through tried and tested techniques of theatre.
 
The workshop was conducted by Mr. Kabir Mradul. Mr. Mradul is associated with the ‘Phankar’ theatre group. He has won 2 State level Drama competitions and 16 intercollegiate competitions. He is also the writer and director of various award-winning plays. He has also directed various short films, is a professional photographer and has seventy portfolios to his credit.
 
This theatre workshop was an amazing learning experience for the students of Jaipuria, Indore. A large number of students became the part of this great experience and learned so many unique techniques which enhanced their interpersonal skills.  The workshop helped the participants to improve upon various aspects of their personalities also helped them to prepare a “Nukkad Natak” on social causes in order to bring some changes to the Indian society. This street play performed by the students of Jaipuria Institute of Management, Indore, at various prominent places in Indore and result into a successful branding activity. Prof. Charu Dubey & Prof. Devika Trehan coordinated the entire workshop in a very effective and efficient manner. Both of them encouraged the students very well to participate in a large number and to grab this wonderful opportunity to move one step towards the Society.
 
 Every day the workshop was started with a meditation which helped the participants to concentrate on their roles sincerely. On the starting two days of this workshop Mr. Mradul directed the participants to build confidence in them by way of playing some management games like Zip-Zap-Zoom, Blind friends walking etc followed by introduction to theatre, forms of theatre & theatre history, types of theatre, Nukkad Natak’s introduction and then Mr. Kabir selected the students as per their diction and voice projection. 
 
He also taught some voice & physical exercises, design gestures and theatre exercises to the participants. Students learned a lot through this workshop and enjoyed too. 
 
This was a fun-filled experience for them in which students who are well in acting and mimics got a wonderful opportunity to showcase their talent in order to spread a unique message for the youth of the City to raise their voice against social injustice and discrimination in order to bring some change to the society.
