Top companies have hired as many as 1,543 MBA students from 26 leading Business schools in 2020 showing a growing trend of aggressive hiring to recruit the best talent. The numbers increased by almost 50% as compared to 2020 where 1,033 MBA students were hired from 22 B-schools in India.
As per a survey conducted by Economics Times, top companies are hiring more students from B-schools this year than previous years. The data collected clearly showed that an average of 59 students were hired by top 10 companies per campus as compared to an average of 47 and 37 students getting hired in the last two years.
The survey also revealed the list of top 10 companies that hired the maximum number of MBAs from 26 B-schools this year. While some of them made it to the list after years, others lost their slots to these new entrants. However, a few of them did manage to keep themselves in the list yet again.
Consulting firm Deloitte topped the list this year pushing IT giant Cognizant, which ruled the top position for the past 3 years, to the second position. Previously at No.3, Deloitte made a surprise jump to No. 1 for the first time by hiring 282 students in total. Cognizant that hired 245 students this year was followed by ICICI Bank at No. 3.
Making a grand entry at No. 4, Infosys surprised everyone by featuring in the list after 4 years. Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) and IBM also made a comeback to the list at No. 8 and No. 10. These comebacks have been credited to aggressive hiring in four B-schools namely, WeSchool, TAPMI, Goa Institute of Management and Great Lakes Institute of Management, which are part of this survey for the first time.
However, the biggest disappointment came from e-commerce major Snapdeal, which could not make it to the list this year. Instability in the company could be cited as a major reason for Snapdeal to disappear from being No 9 last year.
Other companies that were dropped off the list this year include KPMG, IT major ‘HCL’, Telecom biggie ‘Vodafone’ and e-commerce giant ‘Amazon’.
