The Inaugural function of ‘UDAAN FESTIVAL 2015’ and the Award Ceremony for the ‘ACA INTERNATIONAL DESIGN COMPETITION 2015-16 (IDC)’ is being hosted and organised by Aditya College of Architecture (ACA) and Aditya College of Design Studies (ACDS) on December 19, 2015 between 4 pm to 7 pm at the Aditya Educational Campus, Borivali (W), Mumbai.

The leading personality in the field of architecture, Architect Hafeez Contractor will be gracing the ceremony as the Chief Guest and Architect Shirish Beri will be the Special Guest and Keynote Speaker of the ceremony.

‘UDAAN FESTIVAL’ shall commence with the inauguration of Exhibition of Student Work and a Special Exhibition of Winning entries and other Design Entries of the IDC 2015-16. The Exhibitions shall be open to one and all thereafter for 4 more days and festivities shall continue with a variety of cultural & art events, talent hunts, music & drama and indoor sports tournaments.

Ever since its inception, along with the focus on our immediate context and the institutional academics, Aditya College of Architecture has been hosting the International Design Competition to reach out to the wider context of Asia and share common concerns and cultural understandings. The objective of the competition is to facilitate ideation, innovation, creativity, dialogue and sharing among student communities belonging to varied nations of ARCASIA (China, Vietnam, Indonesia, Pakistan, India, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Singapore, Sri Lanka, UAE, Nepal, Philippines, Macau, Mongolia, Bhutan, Thailand, Hong Kong, Bangladesh, and Maldives)

This year the college received around 100 design entries from eight countries other than India, expressing their ideas about ‘Sacred Spaces’ in form of Architectural and Landscape design proposals. Eminent jury panel comprising of Prof. Neelkanth Chhaya, Ar. Manoj Parmar, Ar.Pinkish Shah and Ar. Sameep Padora conducted the jury on November 24, 2015 and chose 3 winning entries and 5 citations. The winning student teams from China, India, Vietnam and Bangladesh will be presented with the awards at the UDAAN inaugural & IDC Awards ceremony.
