Aditya Prakash Singh a student of Dev Sanskriti University, ‘A University for the Global Cultural & Spiritual Renaissance’ has set a new record for Shirshasana, doing the yoga headstand for more than 90 minutes.
According to Pro Vice Chancellor Chinmay Pandya, this feature will be sent to the Guinness and the Limca Book of Records.
Aditya Prakash Singh, a final year BSc student at the varsity, can regularly perform the yogic posture continuously for more than 80 minutes, said a statement. According to the Guinness World Records, the current record of 61 minutes was set by Ivar Stanley, an advertising professional settled in Dubai, earlier this year.
Singh, who hails from Uttar Pradesh's Gorakhpur and joined the varsity in 2013, can also perform other complicated asans like 'Karnapeedasana', 'Mayurasana', 'Garbhasana' etc. and credits his skill to his mentor, the varsity's chancellor Pranav Pandya.
