Lucknow Christian College conducted its annual fest Zeitgeist'14 from January 28-31, 2014 with fervour. The essence of the word ‘Zeitgeist’ proved its true significance when this year’s college fest celebrated the best spirits of all times & gave the most beautiful memories to cherish forever.
One of the oldest inter-college cultural events of the country always creates a buzz around the city. This time the three day annual cultural festival organised by the cultural society of the 152-year old Lucknow Christian College saw a huge participation from more than 50 colleges from the city.
The event became a huge success under the leadership & co-operation of Dr. D.A.Harrison (Principal,Lucknow ChristianCollege),The Convenor:Dr.S.K.Vikram & Mr.Kaushik Mitra,President Shahid Alam & Mr.Fakhrul Hasan ‘Chand’ for his valuable contributions to this college.
The event tagline was “Come celebrate the spirit of our times” justifies the college’s centuries old heritage. It still signifies the college motto of “Omnia Ad Dei Gloriam”-All to the glory of God.
Event hosted competitions like Quiz, Debate, Just-A-Minute, Drama, Singing, Dancing etc. Inspite of a neck-to-neck competition given by various institutions, the host Lucknow Christian College lifted the final winning trophy of Zeitgeist-2014 with the most number of wins.
Events and Memorable Moments:
- Rock Concert among the various bands of colleges.
- Kavi Sammelan which had eminent poets and writers of the country as well as from the Indian Film Industry.
- Inter College Fashion Show & Ms. & Mr. Zeitgeist.
Rangoli-making competition:
Under the charge of Dr. (Mrs.)Nomita Gowan, the Rangoli Making competition was first to be conducted. The topic given to the contestants was of ‘Female Foeticide’. The eye-catching rangoli patterns got everyone’s attention.
The winners of Rangoli-Making competition were:
- 1st Prize was won by Shalini Pankaj & Asma Mirza from Lucknow Christian College.
- 2nd Prize went to Shilpi Maurya & Kalpana Rawat from Dr.R.P.M.G.D. College.
- 3rd Prize went to Siddhartha Rai & Arun Kumar from Vidyant College.
Debate (Hindi):
The incharge for this programme were Dr.R.K. Mishra & Mr.Abhishek Sharma. Topic of the debate was ‘Maatr keval kade kaanoonon dwara mahil utpidan ko roka ja sakta hai.’
The winners of the Debate (Hindi) were :
- 1st prize went to Lavkush Mishra from Lucknow Christian College.
- 2nd prize went to Jaaya Verma from University of Lucknow.
- 3rd prize went to Ashish Kumar Gaur from Jai Narayan P.G.College.
Debate (English):
The programme incharge for Debate (English) were Dr.D.J. Godin,Ms.Smita Singh & Mr.Vipin Pandey. The topic of the debate was ‘Media of the 21st century is more sensational than responsible.
The winners of Debate (English) were:
- 1st prize went to Akash & Saeeda from English & Foreign Languages University.
- 2nd prize went to Neha & Deepika from Isabella Thoburn College.
- 3rd prize went to Saumya Fellows & Abhishek Roy from Lucknow Christian College.
Best Speaker in Debate (English):
- For the Motion: Saumya Fellows from Lucknow Christian College.
- Against the Motion: Zehra Alvi from Univeristy of Lucknow.
Mono acting
Event incharge were Mr.Atmad Ahmed & Mr.Aditya Lal. The audience got highly entertained by the spectacular performances of the participants.
Winners in Mono Acting were:
- 1st prize was won by Rahul Shukla from Lucknow Christian College.
- 2nd prize was backed by Adam Sultan from Jai Narayan P.G. College.
- 3rd prize was won by Shubham Mishra from B.S.N.V.
Extempore/just-a-minute:
The incharge of this competition were Mr.Kaushik Mitra & Mr.Manav Singh.The J.A.M. session had various interesting words which tested the contestant’s sponteneity quotient.
Winners of J.A.M. were:
- 1st prize was won by Sharmono Roy from English & Foreign Languages University.
- 2nd prize was won by Praffull Dwivedi from B.S.N.V.
- 3rd prize was won by Saumya Fellows from Lucknow Christian College.
Essay writing
Essay writing for both the English as well as Hindi were organised by Dr.Arun Mishra,Ms.Neha Nagar & Mr.S.R.Chaudhary. Topic given to the participants was ‘Fatherhood is equally important as Motherhood.’
Winners of Essay Writing were:
- 1st prize was won by Ankita Sundriyal from English & Foreign Languages University.
- 2nd prize was won by Fahad Khan from Lucknow Christian College.
- 3rd prize was won by Rhiddhi Sinha from English & Foreign Languages University.
Essay writing (Hindi)
The winners of Essay Writing (Hindi) were:
- 1st prize went to Vinod Mishra from Lucknow Christian College.
- 2nd prize went to Manisha Bhagat from Dr.R.P.M.G.D. College.
- 3rd prize went to Aditya Pankaj from Lucknow Christian College.
Solo song (Hindi)
The incharge for this event was Dr. Rockey John. The audience got mesmerised by spectacular performances of the participants.
Winners of Solo Song (Hindi) were:
- 1st prize went to Ankush Kumar of Lucknow Christian College.
- 2nd prize went to Ronald Ankit Lal from Dr.R.P.M.G.D. College.
- 3rd prize was won by Kajol from B.S.N.V.
- Consolation prize went to Sargam Dubey from University of Lucknow.
Solo song (western)
The incharge for this event was Dr.E.G.Timothy. The western music perfomances were highly appericiate by the crowd.
Winners of Solo Song (Western) were :
- 1st prize went to Deeksha from University of Lucknow.
- 2nd prize went to Zoya Khan from Isabella Thoburn College.
- 3rd prize went to Alwyn Jacob Roberts of Lucknow Christian College.
Skit
The teacher in-charge for organising the skit were Ms. Mushtabshayara & Ms. Jaya. The intense drama portraited by the participants on the stage got many round of applause.
Winners of Skit were:
- 1st prize went to Lucknow Christian College .(Ashish Mishra,Aamir Khan,Ravish Khan,Anurag,Ekta Dwivedi,Nidhi Singh,Priyanka Jaiswal,Mitali,Suhel Bhojwani).
- 2nd prize went to Jai Narayan P.G. College.(Shivam Bajpayee,Pradeep Rathoure,Komal Singh,Alam Sultan,Riya Mishra,Vishal Nandan.)
The second day of the Zeitgeist began at 09:00 AM in the morning. The first segment of the day was of Dance which made everyone want to groove on the music.
Solo dance
The incharge for the solo dance event were Dr.S.L.Verma & Ms.Isha Rizvi.
The winners of Solo Dance were:
- 1st prize was won by Siddhartha Shukla from Vidyant Hindu College.
- 2nd prize was won by Tanul Pathak from Lucknow Christian College.
- 3rd prize was won by Sargun Dubey from University of Lucknow.
- Group dance
The incharge for this programme Dr. S.L.Verma, Dr.Nomita Gowan & Ms.Isha Rizvi. The winners of Solo Dance were:
- 1st prize was won by the Isabella Thoburn College.(Deepika Mishra,Priyanka Singh,Vartika Singh & Anuradha Srivastava.
- 2nd prize was won by the University of Lucknow.(Anjali Rai,Rangoli,Anu Lakra,Km.Jyoti,Vidhi Yadav & Ananya Yadav.)
- 3rd prize was won by D.A.V. College.(Vishal Singh,Aman Kumar,Ravi Verma,Ankush Kumar,Ajay Kumar & Chetan Bharti.
Group song (Hindi)

- 3rd prize was won by Lucknow Christian College.(Ishan Srivastava,Shubham Saxena,Ankush Kumar,Hanumant Pandey & Vivek Earnest.
Group Song:
The incharge for Group Song (Western) was Dr.Rockey John. The winners of Group Song (Western) were:
- 1st prize was won by Lucknow Christian College.(Ishan Srivastava,Ishan Kumar,Vineesh John,Alwyn Roberts,Rishabh Tandon & Vivek Earnest.
- 2nd prize was won by University of Lucknow(Prabhat Singh,Saloni Khanna,Karan Ghosh,Sargam Dubey,

- 2nd prize was won by Prabhat Diwakar from National P.G. College.
- 3rd prize was won by Ashwini Chandra from Jai Narayan P.G. College.
Fashion Show
The winners of Fancy Dress Competition were:
- 1st prize went to Vidyant Hindu College.(Mehnaz Bano,Saumya,Siddhartha Rai,Satish Srivastava,Karishma Gupta & Sakeb Ansari.
- 2nd prize went to Lucknow Christian College.(Alakh Sharma,Shubham Sonkar,Taha Alvi & Tahir Nizami.)
- 3rd prize was won by Pinky Sharma from Guru Nanak Girls College.
