How do I get there?

You can opt for any subject combination in Class 11 and Class 12, though fine art and sciences are preferable. (The Central Board of Secondary Education offers graphics design, too, to senior school students.) After that, get a degree in fine arts/design in India or do a ceramic engineering, textile engineering course in India or abroad. Many private institutes provide relevant training. Also, a good working knowledge of photoshop specific to tile designing is a must
 

Typical day in the life of a Tile Designer

Every day for a tile designer is different. As a tile designer, you perform various functions of market research, taking customer feedback and creating new designs on certain days in a week. The clockwork for each function is different. Market research can take one to different markets spread throughout the country. The feedback sessions are held frequently.   Another day or a couple of days can be dedicated to choosing the material to replicate as a tile. This material can be marble, natural fabrics, a shirt, a tie, various laminates etc. Another day can be dedicated to choosing the final designs and getting feedback on it from external and internal audiences.
