Birla College of Arts, Science and Commerce was established in 1972 and affiliated to the University of Mubai. It is a multi-faculty institution of higher education with an enrolment of more than 8,500 students. The College has a vibrant work culture and a holistic approach to education is encouraged. The simultaneous development of the intellectual, physical, cultural and emotional faculties of the students is achieved through various academic, co-curricular and extra-curricular activities. The results have always been much higher than the University results. Few students figure in the University Merit Lists every year. In extra-curricular activities including NCC, NSS, etc., the performance of students is excellent.

The College was accredited by NAAC with a 5 Star status in 2002, Re-accredited and awarded 'A' Grade with CGPA – 3.37 in 2008 and Reaccredited (Third Cycle) and awarded 'A' Grade with CGPA – 3.58. The UGC has identified our college under the scheme "College with Potential for Excellence" (CPE)(2010). (The UGC has also sanctioned Centre for Foreign Languages, Centre for Epigraphy, Centre for Yoga - Philosophy and Practice under CPE scheme. The College has been awarded the "Best College Award" (in the Urban category) by the University of Mumbai (2009). Recently the College has been bestowed with 'College of Excellence' status (2015-2020) by UGC.
