Carmel College for Women, a Christian college, was established in 1964 to fulfil the long felt need for an institute for higher learning for women in Goa. The site for the college was generously donated by Mrs. Thelma Da Costa Lourenco of Margao, whose dream of a women's college has become a reality. The college is permanently affiliated to Goa University. The college is a NAAC (National Assessment and Accreditation Council ) Accreditated institution. It has been awarded B + + Grade (80-85%) by the NAAC, which is an  autonomous body  appointed by the  University Grants Commission. The college offers Bachelor of Art, Bachelor of Science and Bachelor of Commerce courses.
