The Centre for Atomic and Molecular Physics, Manipal University is an advanced centre for basic research and teaching. The mission of the centre is to generate human resources by imparting world class education and training in the area of atomic and molecular physics, to encourage students to pursue research and development work, Motivate students to tackle and understand current problems/ challenges which industries face, to forge collaborative teaching and research programmes in specialised areas (e.g. Photonics) in association with premier institutions in India. It offers courses in the field of Physics.

College Facility

Classroom

  • Campus there are 16 halls with all the facilities same as the Interact. Four of these halls can accommodate 120 students and the rest 90. MIT will soon get an additional 65 classrooms with all these facilities when the new block comes up. Almost 30 lecture halls will be air-conditioned in the first phase and the remaining will be air-conditioned in the second.

Laboratory

  • Three academic laboratories; Basic Photonics Laboratory, Advanced Photonics Laboratory – I and Advanced Photonics Laboratory – II are being developed and will be open for MSc (Photonics) and PG Diploma Students from Sept. 2009. These laboratories along with research laboratories will provide students very wide exposure and in hand experience in dealing with optical instruments, sensitive and delicate optics, Lasers (Low-High Power), Various Optical and spectroscopic techniques with applications.

Library

  • Apart from the University Libraries (Central Library and MIT Library), the department has its own mini library with 119 academic and research books.

Hostel

  • It is desirable that all students stay in the University Hostels. It is mandatory for all first year students to reside in the Hostels. However, first year students desirous of staying outside under own arrangements must submit a consent letter from their Parents duly recommended by their HOI and forward it to Director, Student Affairs for necessary permission. These students must also give their local address, contact/mobile number and subsequent changes if any to their College Office and Direc

ExtraCurricular

  • The Annual Inter College Cultural Festival is the flagship cultural event held in the University. Students from all the constituent colleges of the University and also students from our campuses at Bangalore, Sikkim, Nepal, Malaysia and Dubai are invited to participate in this gala event. This is a week- long programme wherein students showcase their talents by participating in various competitions like Creative Writing, Classical Instrumental, Vocal and Dance, Pot Pourri, Cultural Parade, Light
