Department of Anthropology, West Bengal State University  has been exploring quality of education by appointing eminent guest faculties from different University and Institutions in and around Kolkata. It is unique in the sense that it is one of the very few Anthropology departments in India having faculties from three major branches of Anthropology as well as offer specialization courses for all three major branches (Biological, Archaeological and Social-Cultural Anthropology). The department emphasised more on its fieldwork as a part of its curriculum.
