Department of Arabic, Banaras Hindu University ;was started in 1917 and the department was established in 1973.The Department has been conducting Research in the area of Arabic literature (modern and classical) and Arab History and Culture and other allied subjects. The Department plans to take up comparative studies with Indian culture and different Indian languages.
