Department of Bengali is a part of Banaras Hindu University. Bengali has been taught in the undergraduate classes since the establishment of the University, A large number of research scholars have been awarded Ph.D. degree. In the entire north India, it is the only department, where Bengali is taught in UG, PG and Ph.D. levels.
