The Department of Biochemistry and Biophysics, established in 1981, conducts M.Sc. courses in Biochemistry and also in Biophysics with teaching and research in Basic Biochemistry, Cell Biology, Microbiology, Molecular Biology, Immunology, Cellular Signaling, Biochemistry of host parasite interactions, X-ray crystallography, Molecular Modeling, Bio-informatics etc. Some of the former students and research scholars are now engaged as post doc fellows, scientists and faculty members in different institutes, universities and biotech companies in India and abroad. The Department of Science and Technology, government of India, has identified this Department under the FIST (Fund for Improvement of S&T Infrastructure in Universities and other Higher Educational Institutions) Program.
