The Department of Biotechnology at Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar was established by the Department of Biotechnology, Government of India and is a constituent of National Network of thirty plus centers imparting job-oriented training to the students in Biotechnology.All India Combined Entrance Test (AICET) conducted by Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi and university test for admission to M.Sc. Bioinformatics programme.

College Facility

Classroom

  • All the classrooms of the department are well furnished with all modern facilities.

Laboratory

  • The Centre was set up in 1985 with an initial grant from the UGC. Since then, it has been substantially upgraded. At present there are 3 labs out of which 1 lab is for research purposes.

Library

  • University Library has been named after the great Sikh Scholar Bhai Gurdas, who had the privilege of taking dictation from the reverend fifth Sikh Guru, Guru Arjan Dev Ji for the compilation of the holy scripture of the Sikhs, the ADI GRANTH. Bhai Gurdas Library was established in March 1970. The University library building is a marvel and a masterpiece of architecture.

Hostel

  • The university has built up a total of three girls’ and two boys’ hostels comprising of several blocks. Each hostel is equipped with fully furnished rooms, dining halls, reading room and 24 hours internet labs. A stationary cum retail shop along with a hostel canteen is made available in each hostel.
