Department of Communication Media for Children is the department under Shreemati Nathibai Damodar Thackersey Women's University. Department is to train women into a fast growing field of mass media with special interest in producing material for children and develop prototype media material for children and test its effectiveness.

College Facility

Laboratory

  • The department has an audio and video production facility. There is basic shooting and editing facility on digital equipment. There is also an acoustically treated studio facility with lights. The department has professional Betacam shooting equipment. They also have a still photography lab, with facility of black and white developing.

Library

  • The department received grants from UNICEF in the initial stages, for conducting the program, training and equipment. A book grant from from British Council helped with the departmental library and later grants from U.G.C. enabled the department to purchase professional beta and digital equipment for Audio Video production.

ExtraCurricular

  • Department works in close contact with several schools in the city and conducts activities related to Media Education and ‘reading and writng’. It also regularly conducts recreational activities with organizations like Bal Bhavan, Action for the Rights of Children, Marshall Forbes Social Center and others.
