Department of Education is established under University of Gauhati. The Department of Education intends to generate awareness about the versatility of Education as a discipline and to promote manifold activities in the North East Region. To maintain the growth and development of teacher Education in the State and also to establish co-ordination between community and education through various extention programmes. Good teaching and sustained research are essential elements of a healthy academic life which the Education Department endeavours to achieve. Department's aim is to make the students understand the role of education in a changing social context and critically analyse its operational effectiveness in that context.
