Department of Food Technology, Maharshi Dayanand University was incepted in the year 2010-11 under the Faculty of Life Sciences. The objective of the department is to provide quality education in the field of food technology. Department has a strong emphasis on developing food scientist for the food industry by imparting world class food labs for the learners. Food technology programmes provides knowledge about the application of science and technology to the analysis, processing, utilization, diversification, value addition, packaging, distribution and preservation of foods. After completing this programmes students can make their career in various sector such as food packaging, ingredient and equipment suppliers, advertising agencies and market research companies, research establishments and universities and other government departments.
All the classrooms of the department are well furnished with all modern facilities.
Department of Food Technology, Maharshi Dayanand University has 6 laboratories including food processing lab, food analysis lab, canning and bottling instrumentation lab and 3 research labs have been established and fully developed in the department.
The University Library has well stocked library with 3 lake volumes of books and bound journals in its stack areas, Reading Halls with capacity for 1200 readers including a 24-hour Reading Hall with capacity for 250 readers, 13 Scholars’ Rooms, a Committee Room-cum-Videoconferencing Hall, and so on.
