The Department of Mathematics is one of the largest units of Anna University catering to the needs of the Under-Graduate and Post-Graduate programmes in Science, Engineering and Technology. It introduced research programmes leading to M.Phil and Ph.D in Mathematics. The Objective of the department is to provide strong Mathematical background to Engineering Graduates to cope up with the needs of emerging technology at National and International levels.

Classroom

  • The Department of Mathematics has a recently well constructed fully equipped Seminar hall in the name of Indian Mathematician Srinivasa Ramanujan. It is a completely air-conditioned hall with a wall mounted LCD Display Projector and amplified sound system, which can accommodate nearly 120 members.

Laboratory

  • The Department has two Computer Laboratories, one located in the Main building and the other in CPDE building of CEG Campus, from which Post–graduate students of Mathematics and Computer Science programmes, Research Scholars and Faculty members can access the computing facilities available within the department and University, as well as the Internet facility.   • Department of Mathematics has its own libratory consisting of nearly 2000 books. These books include collection of prescribed textbooks for UG / PG level teaching and a collection of few advanced research level books / monographs.The Department Library periodically receives books written by well-qualified research under the title of TRIM series (Text and reading in Mathematics) through National Board for Higher Mathematics.

Placement

ince Anna university is a great place for education it offers so many placement both to the core industries and also IT industries. Campus placements starts during 7th Sem itself. For my department we had so many chemical industries such as Reliance petroleum ,ITC ,CUMI,Sanmar,MPL and IT industries such as IBM,Accenture,CTS,zoho,musigma,Infosys,Amazon,eBay,etc for our recruitment year .Around 100+ companies came for placements to our college and we aimed to get a 100% placement result. The packages were great ranging from 3.5 lpa for the bulk placement companies and 6.5+ for the dream companies. There were also core companies for the other mechanical courses.Around 60+ companies visit the campus for oncampus placements and there are other off campus opportunities too. Most of the top rated dream companies like Microsoft, Goldman Sachs, Amazon come for placements offering a 10+ lpa package
