Department of Microbiology was established 2008 under the School of Life Sciences in Sikkim University with a batch of ten students and a team of four faculty members. Department of Microbiology is offering courses which will lead to investigative studies in topics of regional relevance, especially with respect to local fermented foods and exotic microbial flora of the region.
