Department of Philosophy and the Life-world is a part of Vidyasagar University. The Department is mainly concerned with the teaching and researchs on the general philosophical issues while giving due emphasis on the contributions of the Western and Indian philosophers. In addition, some aspects of Life Philosophy including Applied Philosophy and Applied ethics of contemporary origin are being taught in the Department. It is for the first time in West Bengal that these issues have been included in the curriculum of the Department.
