Department of Psychiatric Social Work, National Institute of Mental Health and Neuro Sciences started as a part of Department of Psychiatry. The department has been the member of International Association of Schools of Social Work (AISSW) and Asian and Pacific Association for Social Work Education. Department aim is to provide the best possible psychosocial services for the persons affected with psychiatric, neurological and neuro surgical problems by involving the inherent potentials in the clients, families and communities and offer advanced level of teaching and training in psychiatric social work.

Library

  • Library and Information Center was started at the erstwhile AIIMH (All India Institute of Mental Health) in the year 1954, with an initial collection of 3775 volumes and subscription to 85 journals. In the year 1974 became National Institute of Mental Health and Neuro Sciences (NIMHANS), the collection at the library has developed in consonance with development of the institute itself both in it's scope and size.

Hostel

  • There are six hostels attached to the institute. Hostel accommodation is provided only to resident doctors, students, research fellows/officers and to trainees from other institutes.
