The department through its multifaceted activities related to teaching and research has been engaged in popularizing the study of Sanskrit language and literature. The department regularly organizes seminars and workshops to highlight the rich cultural heritage of India. Sanskrit speaking courses are also organized by the department to enable learners speak simple Sanskrit. Teaching and research activities in the department cover areas like Vedic studies, aesthetic and literary studies, and also studies on Indian cultural, philosophical and scientific traditions.
