Department of Sociology is department under Dibrugarh University. The teaching and research in Sociology at Post-Graduate level in Dibrugarh University created a new chapter in the growth and development of Sociology in the North-East India. Initially, the Department introduced Master and Doctoral Degree programmes. From mid 80s Master of Philosophy Programme was introduced. The objective of introducing the subject was to acquaint our students with Sociological concepts, Sociological thoughts of the founding fathers and Research Methodological parameters.
