Durgapur Government College is one of the best colleges in India. The Durgapur Government College was established on 15th September 1970. The college is affiliated to  the University of Burdwan and is accredited by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) of Bangalore in March, 2007. The college provides quality education with highly experienced faculty members. As being the oldest institution of its kind to come up in the Steel City Durgapur, Durgapur Government College has moved from its initial modest intake capacity of 150 students to that of around 5000 students at present. The vision of the college is to play definitive role in nation building by instilling in students the zeal to serve the larger community by becoming diligent and dedicated professionals in their chosen fields, and its mission to provide quality education that is informed with sense of progressive and modern outlook to all its students.
