Faculty of Arts is the part of Tamil University Thanjavur. It has running three departments Department of Sculpture established in September 1981 has undertaken more than a dozen research projects and prepared a four-volume Encyclopaedia of Hindu Iconography, Department of Music is undertake research study on the origin and development of Music and the role of Tamil Music in the larger context of Indian Music and world Music and Department of Drama under the faculty of Fine arts strives hard to achieve the goal of the basic systems of Tamil Drama and to uphold the concept and tradition of the Tamil community.
