The Chemistry Department is one of the oldest departments in the University with its long tradition of high quality research and teaching. It was given the status of a Department in 1911 under the headship of Prof. H. B. Duncliffe. The foundation of the present building was laid down in 1926. During last five years, the faculty members have published 299 research papers in national and international journals, 82 research scholar have been awarded Ph.D. degree under their supervision and 21 research projects have been successfully completed. At present there are 29 faculty members and all of them are involved in research activity.
