Faculty of Veterinary Science & Animal Husbandry is established under Birsa Agricultural University. It was a constituent college of Ranchi University and functioned under state animal husbandry department till 1970. With the establishment of Rajendra Agricultural University (RAU) at Pusa, Samastipur, in 1971, this college became a constituent college of R.A.U. the college. Faculty aim is to import Veterinary & Animal Husbandry education up to doctorial level and provide referral & consultancy services in all aspects to Veterinary and Animal Husbandry.

College Facility

Classroom

  • Five lecture theatres with audio visual and suitable black boards. This lecture theatre is renovated keeping in view the aura and environment particularly for different Post Graduate students seminar and invited lectures. This lecture theatre is equipped with modern audio-visual aids.

Laboratory

  • Referral Veterinary clinics with advanced diagnostic lab: Clinical complex has been completely renovated & strengthened with almost all necessary equipments which have made the disease diagnostic process easy end also accurate. Recently one intensive care unit has been started in order to take extra clinical care of difficult cases like kidney failure etc.

Library

  • The faculty has well maintained library with wide range of books collection and journals.

Hostel

  • University is having altogether 14 students hostels out of which 5 are for girls while rest 9 are for boys. All the hostels are equipped with modern facilities like, computer, internet, telephone, common rooms with magazines, newspapers and XV.

ExtraCurricular

  • For effective training of students & benefits of farmers two satellite Veterinary Dispensaries in villages (Kutchu & Haradu) have been started in the year 2004. The students along with teachers visit the centres on fixed days & attend the patients brought by farmers. This has helped in developing confidence level of students and has been equally beneficial for the livestock & poultry owners as they get timely vaccination & treatment services for their livestock & poultry.
