Forest Research Institute (FRI), Dehradhun was set up in the green forest of Himalaya in 1906 for imparting an outstanding knowledge and research in the forestry domain. The college comes under the aegis of Indian Council of Forest Research and Education (ICFRE). The Greeko Roman & colonial styled edifice gives student "WOW" feeling. The campus of the institute is extended in an area of 450 hectares, with the outer Himalaya forming its back drop. The aim of the institute is to fulfil the needs and requirements of the Indo-Gangetic plains of Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi and Western Uttar Pradesh, as Well as the U.P. Himalayas. Forest Research Institute is affiliated to Forest research Institute University and approved by UGC.
