Gajra Raja Medical college, Gwalior, is the seventeenth Medical college of india and the initial within the state of M.P. Presently It admits a hundred and fifty students for MBBS, sixty eight students for post graduation Degree Courses and thirty six students for diploma courses each year. Jaya Arogya group of Hospitals is the affiliated teaching hospital and has about 1100 beds equipped with all modern facilities.
The college is governed by G R Medical college Society below the Department of Medical Education, Government of Madhya Pradesh. it's affiliated to Jiwaji University, Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh medical science University, jabalpur and recognized by the Medical Council of india.
The affiliated teaching Jay Arogya Hospital was founded in 1893. Dr Bhagwat Sahai was the Medical Superintendent of the J. A. group of Hospitals in 1946 with the dream of establishing a medical teaching and training center in Gwalior, he persuaded Shrimant maharaja Jiwajirao Scindia, the then maharaja of Gwalior for the inception of a college.
All the classroooms are well furnished with all the modern facilities.
The Central Library of the college was established in 1946. There are 2 separate reading rooms. The library timing on working days 8.00 a.m. to 8.00 p.m. On Sundays and holidays are closed. 40 computers have been installed recently and the library is connected through internet. The total number of books are about 23,000. The library subscribes to 100 medical journals - both Indian, foreign and WHO.
The college has separate hostel facility for all the boys and girls.
