GandhigramTrust, Established in 1967, this is a government aided residential college, functions according to the UGC rules and regulations and is affiliated to Madurai Kamaraj University. The corpus fund for this institution was given by Dr. Lakshmi Ammal, the mother of the founder Dr. T.S.Soundram, hence the name Lakshmi College of Education. The college is recognised by the Madurai Kamaraj University as a Centre for Advanced Research is offering course bachelor of education, Master of philosophy and Doctor of philosophy.
