Satara Polytechnic is established in 1983 under aegis of Satara Education Society Satara. It is one of the well reputed Polytechnic of Western Maharashtra. It has identified thrust areas as E-Learning, Entrepreneurship for Socio-economic up-liftment of rural area.  Satara Polytechnic is affiliated with All india council for Technical Education (AICTE),New Delhi, Directorate of Technical Education (DTE), Maharashtra State, Mumbai and Maharashtra State Board of Technical Education (MSBTE), Mumbai.
