Government Polytechnic, Jammu was incepted in the year 1960 to impart world-class technical education for the budding engineers and technicians. Government Polytechnic, Jammu is affiliated to Jammu & Kashmir State Board of Technical Education The institute offers three years diploma courses in the various field of engineering such as Civil, Electrical, Mechanical, Automobile, travel and tourism etc. All the diploma courses of the institute are approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE).

Hostel

  • The institution has the facility of hostel meant for the boarding of male students. The hostel comprises 40 rooms and 6 dorm entries, and the capacity of hostel is about 130. It is hardly at 2-3 minutes walking distance from the main campus. Preference is given to those students who belong to far flung areas like Rajouri, Poonch, Doda, Bhaderwah, Basohli etc.

  • With a view to develop the all-round personality of the students, the Institution emphasizes equally on curricular, co-curricular and extra-curricular activities. It is the constant endeavour of the Institution to see that the students grow intellectually, physically and morally.

Placement

Government Polytechnic, Jammu has a full-fledged placement cell, which came into existence in the year 2002- 2003. The training and placement cell of the institute maintains a strong nexus with top organisations and invites them for the campus interviews. Apart from this, institute commenced an Industrial training committee for organising the industrial training / visits / Guest lectures for the students of various branches of the institution.
