Indian Institute of Spices Research was established in 1976 as a regional centre of the Central Plantation Crops Research Institite (CPCRI) under Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) but was later upgraded to the current institute in 1995. The college offers PhD, M.Phil and Post M.Sc/ M.Tech training courses. The college is affiliated to Mangalore Bharathiar University, Mangalore University, Kannur University, University of Calicut, Kerala Agricultural University and Acharya Nagarjuna University.

  • All the classrooms of the institute are well furnished with all modern facilities.

Laboratory

  • All the labs are well equipped with latest instruments and technologies. The labs are Biochemistry laboratory, Soil Chemistry lab, Plant Protection lab, Biocontrol laboratory. The institute also has Accreditation laboratory for certification of tissue cultured spices plants.

Library

  • The IISR library provides support to research and development work of the Institute by acquiring global scientific literature, organizing them for ease of use and better access. It also caters to the needs of the scholarly community of other institutes, universities and organizations. The institute library has a collection of 4311 books, 3451 bound volumes, 2305 reprints, 906 technical reports 127 theses and 153 project reports.
