Islampur College is affilated to University of North Bengal, Islampur College, which started its journey  towards academic excellence on and from 4th December 1973, has developed as a prominent and well - equipped academic Institution in Islampur Subdivision. The College was established by local initiative of  persons interested in education and by public donations. It is one of the fruitful outcome of the dream  of the entire population of the region. After partition and Independence Islampur was under Purnia district of Bihar State.
