Jalpaiguri Government Engineering College established in 1961 is a premier Engineering College in the State of West Bengal. The College is situated at the outskirt of Jalpaiguri Town, the Divisional HQ of seven Districts of North Bengal. It was a vision to establish a centre of professional learning where pursuit of knowledge and excellence was not to be barred by nationality,language,cultural plurality and religion that drove the founders of Jalpaiguri Government Engineering. The College offers Bachelor degrees (B.Tech) in six branches and Master degrees (M.Tech) in two branches of Engineering.

  • The newly built Central Computing Lab provides more than hundred computers in two state of art rooms. Room 1 consists approximate 52 PCs,1 LCD hanging type projector, 1 writing board, Shutter type screen, OHP, 1 trolley for one pc and OHP for both theory and practical classes, Seminar, training course, computer practical, project work, Internet etc. Approximate 52 PCs in room 2 will be used for computer practice, project work, internet.

Library

  • The Central Library of Jalpaiguri Government Engineering College was established in the year 1961. From a humble start with a few books, it now has an enviable collection of 49,349 valuable books and subscribes to 22 journals and periodicals(as on 1st April, 2007). Almost 3000 back-volumes of the journals are available.   • There are five hostels on campus to accomodate about 75% of the students studying here. Of these four hostels are for male boarders. Hostel 1 (P.C.Roy Hall) Hostel 2 (J.C.Bose Hall) Hostel 3 (S.N.Bose Hall) Hostel 4 (N.C.Bose Hall) Hostel for female boarders.
