Morning Star Home Science College is affiliated to Mahatama Gandhi University, Kottayam. The Congregation of the Sisters of Nazareth who established this college with Diploma Courses in Home Science had the great mission of empowering women to be efficient and effective home makers as well as nation builders upholding the basic values of life. The Management of the College soon realized that a University affiliated degree course is also required to spread the idea of effective home making among young women thus giving a new outlook to women’s education. A self financing BSc Degree course in Home Science was started in 1968 affiliated to Kerala University. When Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam was established in 1983, the College came under the jurisdiction of this University. Pre-Degree courses and new degree courses were sanctioned later. Diploma Courses in Home Science are now offered by Nazareth Home Science Institute in the college campus itself and under the same Management.
