National Institute of Rural Development is an autonomous organisation of the Ministry of Rural Development, Government of India. The institute's services are available to different ministries/ departments of the Central and State Governments, banking institutions, public and private sector organisations, civil society organisations and other national and international agencies connected with rural development. NIRD aim is to examine and analyse the factors contributing to the improvement of economic and social well-being of people in rural areas on a sustainable basis with focus on the rural poor and the other disadvantaged groups through research, action research and consultancy efforts and facilitate the rural development efforts with particular emphasis and focus on the rural poor by improving the knowledge,skills and attitudes of rural development officials and non-officials through organising training, workshops and seminars.
Class rooms are properly furnished with state-of-the art equipments which are well equipped with educational audio-visual systems, LCD projectors & Network connection for providing a conducive atmosphere for learning. The classrooms are also spacious, well lighted & well ventilated.
The Institute is equipped with modern computer lab and communication technology, Internet, e-mail,Wi-Fi, Latest Hardware, Software, LAN and other IT facilities enhance the utilization of database available at each center.
The library acts as a resource centre and a clearinghouse of information on rural development in India. Government publications, research reports, and data apart from journals and other unpublished material form a massive resource base of the library. It has developed a computerized database of the resources in its collection. The computerized database consists of nearly two lakh references. The library has also fully automated its day-to-day operations
NIRD will endeavor to make placements on successful completion of the PGDRDM , but does not guarantee the same. However all the students of the previous batches of the PGDRDM were placed with state and central government agencies, public sector bank and non governmental organizations. Placement services are not meant Indian In-Services candidates and International students.
