The National Institute of Technology, Silchar is located at the city of Silchar, Assam, India. It is one of the leading Institutes in India.   • The Institute computing facility includes high-end workstations and Intel Pentium based Personal Computers. All the computing resources of the Institute are connected through a gigabit backbone LAN. The Institute has its Internet Access facility through a 2-MBPS leased line circuit from M/S. BSNL and a 64 KBPS SCPC VSAT Link from ERNET. It is planned to enhance the 64 KBPS SCPC VSAT into a 1MBPS DAMA VSAT for additional bandwidth for Internet access during the current year.   • The Central Library, one of the important central facilities of the Institute, currently has 60,000 volumes, including textbooks, reference books, back volumes, standards, and non-book material such as CD-ROMs and video tapes.

Hostel

  • NITS is a fully residential institution with seven hostels for boys and two for girls. The capacity of boys hostels is 2000 and that of the girls' hostels is 250.

ExtraCurricular

  • The annual cultural fest of NIT Silchar. It is one of the most awaited events of the college. This falls in the month of February. Students from various college from all over the country participate in this festival. TecNOESIS is the technical festival of NIT Silchar. This fest falls in the month of October.

Placement

Institute has its own Placement Cell for the guidance in the Summer internship and Placement procedure. It works under the guidance of the Training and Placement Officer in consultation with FIC. Regular Personality Development sessions, workshops, and seminars are conducted to prepare the students fully to face the placement process.
