School of Management Studies, Assam University has two departments: Department of Commerce and Department of Business Administration. The mission of the department is to contribute through the pursuit of excellence in teaching and other creative and innovative academic endeavors' pertaining to management education, research, consultancy and training to the process of developing capable human and managerial resources and thereby to the corporate, industrial, entrepreneurial, economic, social, intellectual and cultural development of Assam and the rest of India.

  • The Computer Centre is one of the 62 Centres in India for conducting the LIVE Lecture sessions in the “Virtual Classroom” setup under CEC-UGC EDUSAT Network. This is in collaboration. The Centre has organized many Computer awareness programmers, Computer literacy Courses, Summer/ winter schools for the teaching and the nonteaching staff of the University.   • Assam University Central library located inside the campus is available for students besides some small departmental libraries. Presently the Library has a holding of 52,557 books. The Library subscribes to 13 foreign and 186 Indian journals, 16 news papers, and 12 popular magazines. Assam University Library is one of the libraries selected by U.G.C. for automation and networking under INFLIBNET Programme in the year 1998-1999.   • Hostel facilities for the students or research scholars are available from this year. Accommodations in one Gents Hostel and one Ladies Hostel are being provided to the deserving students.

ExtraCurricular

Placement

A good number of passed out students are now employed as teachers in colleges, universities and other educational institutions. Also many of the students have found placements in industrial and service organisations with in and outside North East India.
