Computer science engineering is, undoubtedly, one of the most sought after specialised courses nowadays. A discipline that combines fields of computer science and electrical engineering to develop required computer software and hardware, B.Tech computer science engineering offers professionals lucrative career options as hardware engineers and software developers. Computer engineers get training in software design, electronic engineering and software-hardware integration in addition to software and electronic engineering.
Other than designing of microprocessors, individual micro controllers, supercomputers, personal computers and circuits, computer engineers also focus on how systems work and integrate into a bigger picture. A dynamic field of B Tech, computer science engineering course seamlessly integrates the functional properties of hardware and software and delivers extensive knowledge through classroom teaching and hands-on experience.
Aspirants who want to pursue this course at the undergraduate or postgraduate level would surely find the following information easier to comprehend the ins and outs of this specific B Tech specialisation.
Those who want to pursue B Tech as a career option after 10+2 can opt for computer engineering. One of the branches of B Tech, the course enables students to explore the intricacies of software development and hardware engineering.
To help those who want to explore the domain of computer engineering further, top ranking institutes, colleges and universities offer quality postgraduate courses. Two-year degree course, M Tech enables aspirants to enrich their knowledge to pursue a successful and rewarding career later on.
The process of taking admission in BTech computer science engineering course in any reputed college or university starts with cracking the common entrance exams. The screening test aims to check the promptness, capabilities, aptitude, IQ level and attitude of aspirants based on which they get admission in different colleges and universities. Higher the rank, better the chances of admission and possibility of paying fewer fees.
Those who want to seek admission in BTech computer science engineering should necessarily have passed the higher secondary exam from a recognised state or central board of school education with physics, chemistry and mathematics as core subjects. The minimum pass percentage for general category remains 45%, whereas candidates belonging to reserved categories can pursue the course with 40% marks in aggregate. Candidates who have appeared (result awaited) or are appearing for higher secondary exams can also appear in various common entrance tests that colleges and universities conduct from time to time.
To help those who want to explore the domain of computer engineering further, top ranking institutes, colleges and universities offer quality postgraduate courses. Two-year degree course, M Tech enables aspirants to enrich their knowledge to pursue a successful and rewarding career later on.
Common Entrance Test: Some of the common but prominent tests that aspirants need to crack to get admission in B Tech degree course include JEE Advanced, JEE Main, SRMJEEE and VITEEE. Even when institutes follow different patterns for setting question papers and taking exams, each test surely has sections dedicated to physics, chemistry and maths.
Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main: Scores in JEE Main is accepted by some of the prominent and top ranking institutes in India for admission in B-Tech computer engineering. The list includes Centrally Funded Technical Institutes (CFTIs), Indian Institutes of Information Technology (IIITs) and National Institute of Technology (NITs). Other reputable institutes included in the list are BIT Mesra, NSIT, MNNIT, IIIT, NIT W, NIT Rourkela, NIT Trichy, TU Patiala and NITK to name a few.
Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Advanced Conducted by IITs, JEE Advanced is another milestone for aspirants to achieve. Even those who are among 1.5 lakh rank holders with JEE Main find this test a hard nut to crack. The score in this test is accepted by Indian School of Mines (ISM) and all the IITs.
Vellore Institute of Technology Engineering Entrance Exam (VITEEE) Those who are eying a seat in Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT) to become B.Tech computer engineers need to clear this test with flying colours.
SRM Joint Engineering Entrance Exam (SRMJEEE) With four campuses located in NCR Ghaziabad, Kattankulathur, Ramapuram and Ramapuam Vadapalani, SRM University fills up seats for B-Tech computer science engineering course based on the candidates’ performance in SRMJEEE.
Counselling and College Allocation: Once candidates clear any of the aforementioned tests and are in the safe zone of cut off list, all they need to do is to relax and wait for a call for counselling from respective colleges and universities. During the counselling, college/university authorities can interview candidates to check their preferences, likings, the area of specialisation, interests and other factors to allocate seats accordingly. Sometimes colleges and universities can allocate seats even without PI round.
