Landscape Photography

As one of the most common subjects of photography courses, it involves the learning of finer things related to capturing pictures of nature. Landscape photography requires you to be ready at all times to capture the perfect moment. The subject teaches you the difference between still photography and motion photography.

Commercial / Product Photography

Many photography degree students choose a career in commercial photography. Commercial photographers concentrate on advertising photography, catalogue images, and website images.

Commercial photography

It is a common concentration within all photography courses. In this discipline, students study Advertising and Commercial Photography, Editorial and Corporate Photography, Creating Digital Presentations, Visual Communication, Advertising Principles, and Photo Illustration, as well as broad class work and laboratory or studio experience. Students have the opportunity to build a portfolio oriented toward a career in commercial and product photography.

Fine Art Photography

The subject involves both taking pictures of stationary animals and if they or you are moving. Very technical in nature, it gets you ready for all aspects involved in wildlife photography.

Fashion Photography

The areas covered by this photography subject include how appealing a model or a product should look with a click of your camera. The subject educates you about the use of natural light, indirect lighting, angles and background settings and props which bring out the best in the photo shoot.

Photojournalism

·         A highly technical and diverse area, photojournalism prepares you to take the best pictures in a situation where you find yourself. The subject educates an individual about the use of the right equipment required for the job, whether it is heavy equipment or portable in nature, whichever is easily movable.

·         Individuals who pursue this form of photography aspire to be technical specialists in their field. This particular field under photography courses also involves understanding the laws and ethics involved in photojournalism. Unlike the other areas of photography which mostly involve flashes of glamour, this field tends to lean more on responsible photography.

Travel Photography -

·         This specialised subject under photography courses covers a very broad spectrum. It includes landscape photography, wildlife, and also places and monuments of touristic value. The subject focuses on people, cultural events, popular local food and wine. It also explores local cultures, modes of transport, whether it’s land, water, or air, depending on the geographical location.

Underwater Photography -

Nude Photography

This subject offered under photography courses requires skills and techniques to capture the beauty of the subject without making it look unacceptable or vulgar. Nude photography or ‘a nude’ as they are called, finds its roots dating back centuries. It can be found on canvas, walls of historic interest or sculptures. Very specialised in nature, the use of light and angles play a very key role in showing just enough skin to portray the aesthetic value of the image.

Cinematography

is photography with a motion picture camera, rather than a still camera. Cinematographers work with camera operators and gaffers to film and create the scene desired by the film director. Cinematographers may be camera operators, or they may be directors of photography for a motion picture. A director of photography has more control and decision-making power. Cinematographers must use both technical and creative skills to achieve the director's vision and must work collaboratively with the lighting crew. Schools that cover this speciality may have a major in cinematography, as well as significant courses and practical opportunities.
