Hello again Garima, no how you perform semester wise will not impact your overall admission to MBA. But yes, your ultimate percentage in B. Tech will help you at the time of interview (if you clear the written exam).
As you may know, MBA admission is strictly on the basis of common entrance exams like
CAT, MAT, XAT, IBSAT etc. Most of the institutes are associated with these entrance exams, so basically an IIM will accept CAT scores, Symbiosis will accept SNAP scores etc. Some of the private MBA colleges conduct their own test, so if you are interested in those institutes, you will need to apply separately to them like MICA. So you basically need to prepare well for your entrance exam, because that score will determine which college you might get admission into. Here are some tips on how to prepare for your entrance exams.
Quantitative Aptitude – There may be several types of questions that may form part of quantitative aptitude test like simple arithmetic problems viz., profit and loss, percentages, ratio, averages, partnership, etc.; multiplication or divisions in 5 to 6 figures or decimals, testing only the intelligence of the candidate and not his/her ability to calculate. There may be some other questions aimed at testing the common sense of the candidates. The entire area of quantitative aptitude, therefore, needs constant practice to calculate quickly with accuracy. More practice is also essential for the candidates to gain confidence in this part of the test. Even if a candidate does not have the basic aptitude for figure-work, he/she can make up for this deficiency by regular practice and a lot of hard work. It is strongly recommended that the candidates practice and attempt all the questions on quantitative.
Logical Reasoning – This section can include a statement on which the candidates are asked to draw correct interference out of the given choices. There could be questions on series of words and figures, arrangement of alphabets, brain teasers or even such questions as only call for drawing logical inferences. There could be certain questions on distances travelled in different directions. In such questions it is proper to draw a rough diagram giving distances travelled in various directions to get the correct answer. Most of the questions under this category test the common sense and sense of proportion and reasoning among the candidates and therefore, must be attempted with a cool head and also requires intense practice.
Comprehension Test – This section will gauge the English language skills of the candidate. Generally, the candidates are given a paragraph, following which they are required to answer a set of questions. Continuous practice with this will help the candidate approach this section in an effective and appropriate manner.
General Awareness – As the name suggests, the candidate needs to know a little more than the syllabus prescribed. Basic facts about Science, Geography, History, Economics, Polity, etc are essentially required to be known. Reading books on various subjects is strongly recommended and reading newspapers regularly will keep the candidate updated on the latest happenings of the world.
