Industrial Training Institutes (ITI’s) are constituted under Ministry of Labour, Government of India. These institutes provide training in engineering and non-engineering technical fields. The main objective behind opening ITI’s is to provide technical manpower to the fast emerging industrial sectors.

Most of the ITI’s impart training in various technical trades such as electrician, fitter, plumber, mechanics, etc. which are evergreen courses.

After completion of ITI course, you have to undergo practical training in an industry for one or two years which is mandatory to appear for National Council of Vocational Training (NCVT) Certificate. This certificate is compulsory for applying jobs in relevant categories in various reputed companies.

ITI qualified persons can set up their own garage, motor/generator/transformer winding shops or fabrication shops depending upon trade opted. You can also apply for jobs in private and public sectors. Government organisations like Indian Army, Navy, Air force and also paramilitary forces like BSF, CRPF provide opportunities for ITI passed candidates.
