The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) conducts an Indian Police Service (IPS) Limited Competitive Examination for the purpose of filling vacancies in the Indian Police Service (IPS). The IPS is responsible for public safety and security. The IPS mainly takes care of law and order.

Eligibility:

• You should have passed graduation from any recognized university.

• The minimum age requirement is 21 and maximum is 30 for General Category aspirants. For OBC, the maximum age requirement becomes 33 and for SC/ST it becomes 35 while minimum age remains the same for all three categories.

• You also need to meet physical standards mentioned in application form.

• You need to be an Indian Citizen to become a part of All India Services.

There are some tips of preparing for IPS exam –

• You should keep yourself updated regarding the current affairs by reading the newspapers daily.

• It is essential to go through the NCERT books of classes 6 to 12. If you have a clear knowledge about the subjects covered under these books, it will be easier for you to get through the IPS examination.

• You should practice for the exam from last five years question papers. This is because, generally the same pattern of questions is followed and so it will be easier for you to practice well for the examination.

• It is very much essential for you to develop your presentation skills, only with good presentation skills; you will be able to succeed in the IPS examination.

• Other than books, you also need to prepare from a good atlas for ‘Geography’.
