Dear Sushant, If you have a passion for aviation and want to become an Aircraft Maintenance Engineer (AME), then you need to attend a Certified School in India and obtain an Aircraft Maintenance Engineer's Licence Training Programme that is approved by the Director General of Civil Aviation (DGCA). Usually the course would be a 3-4 year programme where you will be taught everything about the maintenance of an aircraft.
• To be eligible for such courses you need to have passed Class XII with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics.
• You need to have scored at least 50% marks in your 10+2 exams. The requirements however varies from institute to institute. For example, for the Indian Institute of Aircraft Engineering, Mahipalpur, New Delhi, a student can get admission either through an entrance test or on the basis of his/her percentage of marks in PCM in 10+2. Those with a minimum of 70% marks in PCM may be enrolled directly subject to availability of seats. Those with less than 70% and a minimum of 50% aggregate in physics and maths in 10+2 level examination are required to qualify the entrance examination conducted by the institute.
• Application procedures for most institutes offering the AME course usually begin in the month of May.
