A competitive examination is based on percentile and the cut off is decided based on how many students need to be selected. If you been following the newspapers, today itself there is an article of errors in the IIT entrance examination for which students are likely to be all credited with 12 marks more which in other words would only mean that those questions lose their relevance and the cut off would go higher.
